Waterproofing

It has been estimated that over 80% of litigation involving new building owners and builders involves water leaking into the structure and the damage which results. This problem could have been easily solved had the right waterproofing measures been taken and the correct membrane system installed when the structure was constructed.

HouseGuard™ has been a leader in waterproofing innovation for over 50 years. TruDry™ and TruDry XG™ waterproofing membranes provide the contractor with safe to use, polymer modified asphalt emulsions for below grade applications which contain no harmful solvents to pollute the soil or the air. Their thixatropic consistency provide the applicator with a product that sprays easily yet quickly builds a heavy film on the structure wall without running or sagging like some competitive products making uniform application easier to achieve. Their cured films are tough and adhere tightly to concrete or masonry surfaces, yet are elastomeric and remain flexible to bridge cracks should they occur in the foundation wall. TruDry™, the original HouseGuard™ flagship waterproofing product, continues to provide excellent performance, demonstrated by its ICC Evaluation BOCA Legacy Report 94-66. This evaluation provides the architect, builder, and applicator, as well as local code official, the confidence that TruDry™ will meet or exceed standard waterproofing requirements when applied according to HouseGuard™ specifications. TruDry XG™ takes it a step further with enhanced adhesion promoters and a higher level of thixatopy to promote even greater film build performance. When combined with the Dow Perimate® insulating drainage board or alternate approved drainage board product, they provide the HouseGuard™ Waterproofing System which carries enhanced warranty protection.

BUT, waterproofing below grade is only half the job. In many cases, there is a significant portion of the building foundation or exterior wall which is left exposed above grade. These areas require a tough elastomeric film, but also one that has UV resistance to take the weathering from sunlight and the elements. Comfort Dry® LC and Comfort Dry® WB provide exceptional UV, water, and moisture resistance for this application. Their tough elastomeric films can be pigmented to match building décor, texturized to provide aesthetically pleasing surfaces, and adhere to various substrates of concrete, masonry, and other building materials. And they can be applied both above and below grade for a single membrane system if so desired. They also make excellent vapor/moisture barrier coatings when applied at lower film thicknesses for inner cavity wall areas.
