Mastics

The key to any job well done is preparation and follow through. As part of the wall preparation for waterproofing process, tie holes which occur from metal ties or pins which hold the concrete forms in place often become sources of water intrusion. To properly address these areas, as well as other voids and potential sites of water intrusion, HouseGuard™ Winter or Summer Grade Mastic products are applied to all tie holes and any honeycombs or cold pour seams which will later develop into sources of cracking and intrusion points for water. Once the mastic is cured to touch, the foundation is then coated with HouseGuard™ waterproofing membranes to provide a seamless waterproofing barrier.

HouseGuard’s Winter and Summer Grade Mastics are heavy bodied mastics with a special additive to help adhere to damp or wet surfaces. Its unique ability to adhere to wet surfaces makes it the perfect cement to use in inclement weather. HouseGuard™ Mastics remains soft and pliable though all climatic conditions assuring a durable, weatherproof seal. Summer or Winter Grade Mastic is the best and most economic material for tie hole patching prior to application of the waterproofing and/or damproofing membranes. HouseGuard™ Mastics are easy to apply and handle. The product is usually applied with a conventional trowel or putty knife. HouseGuard™ Mastics are available in five gallon pails.
